Well, here's the tale of my weekend:

On friday, I submitted my Masters proposal, we went out for a pub lunch to celebrate pay day, despite not having been paid yet and my wallet arrived safe and sound, delivered to my house at 8.50am, just as I had managed to put 25 miles between myself and my house. Stupid really, but I thought the whole point of having your post delivered in the morning was that it arrives *before* you leave home? If that's not the idea, then there seems very little point in making postmen get up at 5.30...

Anyway, I had to battle my way through rush-hour traffic, negotiate my way into the car park of the sorting office and reclaim said parcel from the doddery old bloke on reception... All cards were present and correct, but I was a little disturbed to find that theives had made off with HALF A BOOK OF STAMPS and my TESCO CLUBCARD VOUCHERS, a total haul of around £2.50...

On Saturday, I let Nigel the new newt into the big tank with Gary and Harry for the first time. Not a great success, as Gary immediately tried to eat him. Have decided that Nigel will have to spend a few months living in the small tank, which I have kitted out for him - and that I shall have to get him some friends to play with...

A party at Dibblah's on Saturday night to celebrate Terrence leaving for Japan. Apologies to Ponty for the attacking and pizza stealing, but not to MikeO who forgot to scratch and then accused me of breaking the three second rule (and sat on me). We trained him wrong. On purpose. For a joke.
As so often happens through the smog in that house, 11.30 suddenly became 4am, so I went home.

At 9.30 on Sunday morning, I was supposed to be 40 miles from home walking round the industrial landscape of Blaenavon with a bunch of landscape architects. I was in Blaenavon, but I couldn't find the architects and didn't really feel like walking, so I visited the ironworks to have a look at their water balance lift (which is dead interesting if you like industrial archaeology) and then came home. Spent the rest of the day sitting in the dark drinking coke and sticking Whitby photos into my album.

Went out for food in the evening with Chrissie, Megs, Gav, HP, MikeO and Shell-bun. (HP has decided to take a Private Investigators exam (£700) so she can become H.A.P.P.I. and Megs has bought trainers with the Babycham deer all over them...) Afterwards, we went to the cinema with the Bedford St boys to watch 'Bruce Almighty', which is marginally amusing, if you can get over the tweeness, patriotism and moral lessons.
