On Cambridge, crime and croquet
Jul. 8th, 2003 10:35 amLooks like the curse has *finally* lifted as, through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I fought my way to
manicman's in Cambridge this weekend.
And actually got there, despite overpriced train tickets, 6 hour bus journeys, the saga of not moving house and endless roadworks (someone has decided to dig up the Midlands)...
Highlights were:
- Getting drunk and breaking into the museum of zoology
- Being turfed out of the museum by an aged professor cradling a bottle of port
- The pub with a fishtank in a phonebox
- A mighty fine curry
- Getting *covered* in hot chocolate
- Not getting a hangover (unlike
manicman! - ho ho!)
Plans to visit Janine and Martin Attrition in Coventry on Sunday were scuppered when
phiil told me they were in Greece. Still, got to sit in a traffic jam for an hour to make up for it...
Have clocked up 800 miles since Thursday, and the front half of my car is now decorated in a rather lovely shade of squashed bug.
