Is it just me, or is anyone else suffering from chip and pin paranoia? Ever since I had to start entering pincodes in shops I have become deeply suspicious of checkout assistants and CCTV operators trying to steal my code. Not that it would be much use without my card, and I'm sure they're pretty good at spotting cloning devices on the tills in Asda. I've been typing the same numbers into cashpoints for years and I've never had a problem with that...

I remember reading once that the thing we write most often is our name. But as e-mail practically obliterated the need to write letters and chip and pin has stopped us signing reciepts, does this mean that we're not going to be as used to signing our names any more? If the indeciperability of signatures is something to do with the frequency with which we have to write them, does this technology mean that unique scrawly signatures will eventually be replaced with our normal handwriting? And just how long are we going to need handwriting for anyway? How many sentences have you written today? I've handwritten 7 words since 9.00...
