I'd be careful about the BBC heavy metal thing. There were some BBC people at a recent role-playing event I was at, and then some more at the Goth weekend in Whitby. I think they're doing a whole series looking at 'alternative' hobbies and lifestyles. Based on past experiences, these have a tendency to end up as freak pointing after they've been through the editorial process, regardless of what the actual film makers tell you they're doing at the time.
