I put it down to sheer desperation myself. That bit on Ch4 last night with the wee Christian metal munchkins in Jesus hoodie's had me almost wetting myself!
I think that UK Christianity is going the way of the dodo myself... not that I will notice/care ;-)
Oh aye - as to that comment about JD being a holy spirit... geugh. Horrible stuff - I will stick to my far superior malts ta very much (must remember to bring some down to Infest next year... I knew something was missing from the kilt ensamble ;-)
