[livejournal.com profile] lucien_dark and I are currently debating George Lazenby - Good Bond or bad Bond?

Here's a list of all the Bonds, just in case you don't remember him...

I think whoever chooses Bonds does a good job of getting it right for the era it takes place in. Connery was just right for the Cold War era, Moore was great for the campier times that followed, Dalton was as good as anyone would have been in the 80s because the 80s were rubbish, and Brosnan was good in our modern times. I can't wait for the new one either, Daniel Craig could be be very good.
The thing I liked about Dalton's Bond was that he was the most real, he was a guy who'd killed a lot of people and that had left its mark on him. Like in License To Kill where he had the bad guy over the trapdoor with all the sharks below, and he chucked the suitcase of money at him and just watched him get eaten when he fell. The guy had fucked with people he cared about and Bond wanted to watch and get his revenge. I'd buy that more than if he he just quipped a witty one-liner and went off to fuck some beautiful girl. I'm not saying that's how Bond should be, just that I liked that interpretation.
