Today I had fun with fire and borax and accidentally erased my fingerprints with a wire wool drill bit. That probably ought to have hurt more than it did. Anyway, this is the result of all my swearing.

In theory the distressing should age at the same rate as the rest as it's a corrosion. Though oxides can protect metal, so maybe the rest will age faster.
what metal is it?
and why were the C's hard?
wasn't it just drill, saw, file??
