Mother and father came round today to poke through my stuff visit my flat and take me our for a birthday meal. Father did not bring his teeth again and Mother tried to make up for it by wearing her super-posh cashmere coat. We went to the pub over the road, which is deservedly recognised for its good cooking, varied menu and enormous portions but it is a funny place - It looks like a Lilliput cottage on the outside (and even has a well) but inside it is full with locals playing cards and darts and speaking to the barstaff on first name terms.

There was also a slightly tipsy Frenchman who was drinking white wine from a bottle with a big French flag on it and wearing a beret. How awesome!

Later, I introduced Mother to the joys of Playstation and discovered that she fails so badly at technology that shecouldn't even master a 'suitable for ages 3+' that my sister sent me (either for a joke or because they don't have proper shops in Devon, I don't know which).

Tonight I am watching Barb Wire, which is hilarious, and trying to finish off the work I desperately need to have finished for tomorrow's meeting but haven't done, thanks to the amusement value of said children's game. I have also seen one of those 'sexy' text chat adverts which features girls in skimpy clothing bouncy half heartedly about on exercise balls and flapping their arms about in the manner of people who are making just about enough effort to get paid but who would far rather be on the front of a Ministry of Sound CD and are hoping that their friends never ever watch rotten late night films on cheap digital channels.

Meh. Back to work.

Did you know that it's a loose remake of Casablanca? No really.

Well, the overall plots broadly the same. Amazing how someone could screw up something so good, so badly.

Still, it's amusing in 'watching a car crash' sort of way.

Yay for those adverts :-) Leo always liked the one that said 'If you're single, or even if you're not...'.
