Ha! who needs Dr. Grodbrot? I've made my own Steampunk firearm! Here it is:

First, go to Wilkinson's and purchase a pile of cheap tat. Raid the recycling bin for extra bits and bobs.

Get a craft knife and start chopping! From a pile of mess and plastic shards, assemble a reasonably gun-shaped set of bits.

Spray some of the bits with vinyl dye, then paint the parts which turn out not to be vinyl with Hammerite. Fail to worry about manky grey carpet.

Fill four glitter tubes with blue coloured liquid and seal the lids on with apoxy resin. Leave to set.

Glue bits of gun together with apoxy resin. Realise that it might have been a good idea to fill the gun with builder's foam for stability. Oh well.

Add some detail using modelling plastic, fishtank spares and a bag of cheap jewels from the craft shop. Stick on extra bits for good measure.

Discover that you have silver wax polish and adhesive copper in your art box. Polish and add more details. Start to get a bit obsessed.

Go a bit crazy. Make a gun rack from the breadboard you've just ruined, some allegedly mahogany coloured varnish and some old curtain pole holders.

Clip gun in rack. Turn around and realise that there's sawdust all over the floor, the bathroom smells of turpentine and you've used all of your cleansing wipes to tone down the silver wax. Admire.

Here's the top:

And here's the other side:

Two questions remain:
1. What should I call it?
2. Will I be brave enough to take it to Steampunk Judder?
